Fairfax County is holding a second open house on Thursday, November 8, 2018 as part of the visioning process for the McLeanCBC Planning Study. The event will begin with a presentation explaining the Draft Vision Plan followed by an open house to give the community the opportunity to provide their feedback on the Draft Vision Plan.

Subject:  McLean CBC Suggestions for Land Use Change

 

The Department of Planning and Zoning, Planning Division, is now accepting suggestions for land use change to the Comprehensive Plan for the McLean Community Business Center (CBC). Proposed suggestions can offer either site-specific recommendations or area wide guidance for further consideration. Below is a link to the submission form. Please refer to the instructions on page three of the submission form for contact information and how to submit completed forms.  Proposals should be submitted to the Department of Planning & Zoning staff by November 15, 2018.

Lewin Park Comprehensive Plan Amendment (Land Unit U, Franconia-Springfield Transit Station Area, Springfield Planning District, Virginia)

Subject:  New Comprehensive Plan Amendment - 2018-IV-S1 (Lewin Park)

On May 1, 2018 the Board of Supervisors authorized the consideration of a Comprehensive Plan amendment for Lewin Park (Tax Map Parcels 91-1-((4))1 through 11, 13-25, 500 and 501) in Land Unit U of the Franconia-Springfield Transit Station Area, in the Springfield Planning District, Lee Supervisor District.

            The adopted Plan for this area recommends residential use at 1-2 dwelling units per acre with an option for office and/or hotel with support retail uses at up to 1.5 FAR.  The Board requested that staff consider substitution of up to 300,000 square feet of residential uses in the development option for the land unit

Public hearings for this Plan amendment have not been scheduled.

Lincolnia Planning District, Phase II, Community Business Center adopted by the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors on March 6, 2018

Subject:  Plan Amendment 2013-I-L1(B) (Lincolnia Planning District Study, Phase II, Community Business Center Consideration) Adopted Text

 

The 2017 Edition of the Comprehensive Plan has been updated as a result of Plan amendment 2013-I-L1(B), adopted by the Board of Supervisors on March 6, 2018.  

 

2017-07 Lincolnia Planning District Study, Phase II, Community Business Center Consideration: On July 9, 2013 the Board of Supervisors authorized the consideration of a Comprehensive Plan amendment for the Lincolnia Planning District. The authorization directed staff to update and review Comprehensive Plan guidance for the area and to consider whether a portion of the planning district should be designated as a Community Business Center (CBC). This multi-phased study is still ongoing with the Board of Supervisors concluding Phase II, adopting the Lincolnia CBC designation on March 6, 2018. Phase III, beginning in early Spring 2018, will provide detailed land use and transportation analysis with recommendations for the newly designated Lincolnia CBC.  District-wide recommendations will also be discussed.

 

The adopted text for this amendment (adopted text No. 2017-07) can be found here.  This amendment revised the following sections of the Comprehensive and Policy Plans:

 

·         Area I:  OverviewBaileys Planning District and Lincolnia Planning Districts

·         Area II:  Overview

·         Area III:  Overview

·         Area IV:  Overview

·         Policy:  Preface and Introduction

 

You may need to take the following steps:

 

1.  If you maintain a paper copy of the Comprehensive Plan, please print the affected section and replace the old text in your Plan notebooks.

 

2.  If you have "short cuts" or "favorites" on your computer that link to the Plan, be sure to refresh those links and check to be sure they link to the newest version by checking the “amended through” dates in these revised sections.
